Arsenal Defender Nacho Monreal Release Important Update on Arsene Wenger's Future at Arsenal

Wenger, 66, has come under huge scrutiny in recent weeks and there have been calls for the Frenchman to step down at the end of the campaign. The Arsenal boss is out of contract in the summer and is under pressure to call it a day after six defeats in the Gunners’ last nine matches.

Reports last week claimed Wenger had signed a new two-year deal but was waiting for the right moment to announce it and Monreal has confirmed the Frenchman has a deal on the table. Monreal admits it’s been a difficult period for the Gunners in the last few months but the Spanaird has revealed the three-time Premier League winner has been offered a new deal.

‘Well, it’s a complicated time. There is a section of the fanbase that is against the coach,’ Monreal told Goal.

‘Just a part of them, because it is not everybody. I think most of the fans are with him and support him. But there is a small part of the fans that does not agree, and are those who protest.

‘We, the players, are with Wenger. He has the final word and he will decide whether to continue or not, because I understand that the club has made a renewal offer. So what he does will be the best thing for him and for Arsenal, for sure.’
