According to report from Africafootball.com, former President of the South Sudan FA, Chabur Goc has said he is waiting for the FIFA to clear him so that he can stand during the elections on Thursday to be a member of FIFA’s Council.
“I am hoping that FIFA’s ethics committee clear me so that I can contest,” Chabur told Africafootball.com
Last week it was communicated that Chabur and President of the South African Football Associations (SAFA), Daniel Alexander Jordan and Zambia’s Kalusha Bwalya had pulled out of the race for a place on the Fifa Council.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF), who will have the Assembly on Thursday in Addis Ababa, later clarified that Chabur is still in the race because the South Sudan FA who elected a new interim executive were late to withdraw his name.
Chabur explained that he never withdrew from the race. The South Sudan official will become a member of the FIFA Council if he is cleared and will together be with Almany Kabel Camar and Burundi’s Lydia Nsekera on the open category ticket. Jordaan who opted out was also in this category.
