The 28-year-old was a target for Chelsea last summer and Antonio Conte was desperate to bring him to Stamford Bridge. The box-to-box midfielder resisted the Blues’ offer and opted to stay in the Italian capital, where he’s had another fine season under Luciano Spalletti.
The player himself admitted that signing for Chelsea would help him develop his skills further, but suggested the English weather could prevent him from switching Rome for London.
‘I’m happy in Rome, the weather is usually good and my family are fine here,’ said Nainggolan.
‘Sometimes you make choices for money, other times it’s for quality of life, which is important for me. Also if I went to England I’d have to start from scratch and I’m very happy at Roma.
‘China? Not now, but you can never rule anything out. I’d have to see at the time.’
