NPFL Recap on Match-day 24- Plateau United Maintain Lead at the Top

Let us take a review of Nigerian Professional Football League for matchday- 24 as Plateau United maintained their five-point lead at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table, while there were no changes in the bottom four at the end of match-day 24 games on Sunday.

Enugu Rangers 1-0 Akwa United
Bright Silas' 11th-minute goal ensured Enugu Rangers secured maximum points against Akwa United, earning a first league win in four outings. Impressively, Rangers kept a clean-sheet for the first time in six games in a match which failed to produce too much goalmouth action.

Plateau United 5-1 Gombe United
League leaders Plateau United secured a comprehensive home win against Gombe United, thanks partly to Peter Eneji's brace from the spot. The referee awarded penalties to either team in the opening eight minutes, converted by Eneji in the 6th minute and Mannir Ubale of Gombe United. Further goals from Elisha Golbe, Eneji, Kabiru Umar and Emeka Umeh condemned Gombe to a heavy defeat as the remain stuck in 18th spot.

MFM FC 1-0 Shooting Stars
A first-half strike from Monday Shishinma was all MFM required to sink Shooting Stars to the bottom of the table. In addition to securing a first-ever win against Stars in the south west derby, the church-sponsored team moved into second spot on the log.

Enyimba 2-1 Abia Warriors
Mfon Udoh netted his ninth and 10th goals of the season against Abia Warriors in the Abia derby, ensuring the People's Elephant moved into third place. Udoh netted his first from the spot in the 19th minute before doubling the lead just after the break. Chimezie Amanfor pulled a goal back for the visitors, who dropped down into 12th place. Both teams finished with 10 men after Kelly Kester and Chinedu Ozor were shown red cards in the dying moments of the game for an altercation.

Rivers United 2-1 FC Ifeanyi Ubah
Ageless winger Efosa Eguakun netted a stoppage-time winner for Rivers United against FC Ifeanyi Ubah, a defeat which saw the visitors drop two places into fourth position. It took an hour for the game to come alive; Ayo Saka giving the home team the lead from the spot. Substitute Prince Aggrey pulled the visitors level from the spot in the 81st minute after Festus Austine handled in the box, but Eguakun popped up late on with the winner, though relegation fears remain realistic at Rivers, who are just a spot above the drop zone in 16th place.

Kano Pillars 3-1 Sunshine Stars
Kano Pillars put up a commanding performance against Sunshine Stars in Kano, inflicting a third successive defeat on the visitors in the process. Nyima Nwangwa netted after 10 seconds via an assist from Rabiu Ali to put Pillars ahead, and Junior Lokosa netted a first half brace to ensure Sunday Oluwadamilare's consolation goal didn't stop Kano Pillars from moving into ninth place.

Katsina United 3-0 El-Kanemi Warriors
A brace from Musa Suleiman and a 74th minute Obinna Eleje goal condemned El-Kanemi Warriors to an 11th away league loss of the season, dropping out of the top four, into fifth position.

Remo Stars 1-0 Nasarawa United
Eric Dufegha scored the all-important goal for Remo Stars against Nasarawa United, earning a victory which moved them a spot above bottom of the log. It was a much improved Stars performance, racking up a seventh point in three matches as failed to build on last weekend's away result at the home of the champions.
