Roma Complete the Signing of Moreno from PSV

Serie A side Roma announced the signing of Mexican defender Hector Moreno from PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday. The 29-year-old centre-back, who has won 79 caps for Mexico, joins the capital club on a four-year contract that runs until 2021.

"I am very happy to sign for Roma," Moreno said. "This represents an important step up in my career.

"I hope I can show my individual qualities and contribute to the overall success of the team."

Moreno, who made over 100 La Liga appearances for Espanyol, spent two seasons with PSV, helping Phillip Cocu's side win the Dutch league title in 2015-16, seven years after winning it with AZ Alkmaar in 2009.

Roma sporting director Monchi said he had targeted the player for some time.

"Moreno has been a target of mine for a long time, and fortunately now the circumstances are right for him to join us at Roma," said Monchi, who was hired several months ago following years of successful recruitment for Spanish side Sevilla.

"This is a central defender with a lot of international experience, and he fits the profile we were looking for perfectly."

Moreno played for Mexico at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, helping them win the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2011.

Roma finished runners-up to Juventus in Serie A last term to secure an automatic spot in next season's Champions League group stages.

Kroos, 27, missed the last weekend's 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad due to a fitness problem. The Germany international returned to Zidane's starting line-up for Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to Real Betis and was able to complete the full 90 minutes. However, it looks like Kroos suffered a recurrence of the problem in that game after Real Madrid revealed on Friday morning that the midfielder skipped the final training session before Los Blancos' trip to Vitoria. Zidane himself later confirmed the blow in a press conference, adding that he expects the midfielder to recover in time for the crucial Champions League trip t
