Antonio Rudiger Remains Coy on Future Amid Chelsea Links

Germany international Antonio Rudiger insists his future will be decided in the ‘coming weeks’ amid reports he is set for a transfer toChelsea. The Blues have reportedly agreed a fee with Roma after bidding £30million for the defender’s services. Rudiger is currently celebrating Germany’s Confederations Cup victory, but answered questions about his future after the game.

The 24-year-old refused to confirm or deny the Chelsea interest, but did hint he was considering a summer exit from Roma.

‘It’s not about the future now… it’s now about enjoyment,’ Rudiger said.

‘I need to enjoy this moment, and I’m enjoying it to the fullest.

‘The rest we will see in the coming weeks.’

Antonio Conte is desperate to add to his backline this summer with Chelsea preparing for a title defence and a return to the Champions League.

Rudiger is expected to touch down in London this week to finalise the details of the deal and undergo a medical.

Despite being linked with Southampton captain Virgil van Dijk and Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, Conte settled on the impressive Rudiger as his main defensive target.

Chelsea sold centre-back Nathan Ake to Bournemouth for £20m, opening the door for a fresh signing to come into the squad.

Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko is believed to be on the verge of joining Chelsea while Conte is still chasing Juventus full-back Alex Sandro.

Ibrahimovic signed a new one-year deal at United on August 24 after the first serious injury of his career cut short a stellar first season at Old Trafford earlier this year. The player's doctor Freddie Fu has warned against rushing his return and United boss Jose Mourinho had previously suggested he will not play for the club in January but has reassessed that prediction. "(Paul) Pogba is not here I don't know when he will be back," he said. "Zlatan is working under our control here as I would expect. He is working so, so hard but he won't be back in the next week or the next couple of weeks. "He nee...
