Chelsea are Interested in Signing Manchester City Striker Sergio Aguero

Chelsea have registered their interest in Sergio Aguero and are ready to make a move to sign the Argentine, who has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester City. After missing out on Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea have turned their attention to forwards such as Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund), Andrea Belotti (Torino) and Aguero.

The report claims their interest is ‘serious and strong’, though they will face an almighty battle to persuade City to part with a player who has scored 169 goals in six seasons since joining from Atletico.

Any deal would be extremely difficult for Chelsea to pull off, with the club making a point of never strengthening their rivals and never selling a player they want to keep.

And although Aguero has not always seemed an ideal fit for Pep Guardiola’s system, being forced to play as a No.9 rather than a No.10, City’s hierarchy would be loath to lose such an undoubtedly world-class talent.

When asked if Aguero was staying earlier this summer, Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: ‘Absolutely. There’s never been a doubt about that. I’ve read a lot of the speculation on this and it’s ridiculous.

‘Sergio Aguero is one of the best players in the world. We are a team that aspires to win every competition we compete in.

‘Having Sergio Aguero as part of the squad is an absolute must. It has never been in doubt.’

Despite Al Mubarak’s confidence, Aguero did occasionally find himself on the fringes of Guardiola’s plans last season, with Gabriel Jesus’ incredible form and City’s pursuit of Alexis Sanchez throwing his future into doubt.

Chelsea have also been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Torino frontman Andrea Belotti and Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata.

However, Dortmund have told any suitors they will need to make an acceptable bid within the next few days, Torino are demanding more than Chelsea are willing to pay for Belotti and
