Manchester United on the Verge of Signing Matic Midfielder is Omitted from Chelsea Squad

Chelsea have given the clearest indication yet that Nemanja Matic will be allowed to join Manchester United this summer. Matic has made 154 appearances across two spells at Stamford Bridge but the 28-year-old midfielder is wanted by former manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

It’s understood Juventus are also very interested in landing the Serbian in the coming weeks and it appears he will be allowed to move on if a suitable offer is made.

Tellingly, Matic has not been included in Antonio Conte’s squad which has traveled to Beijing for the Premier League champions’ pre-season tour of China.

Summer signing Willy Caballero is included in Chelsea 25-man party, while youngsters Jake Clarke-Salter, Fikayo Tomori and Charly Musonda also travel with Conte’s new-look squad.

Chelsea are reportedly demanding a fee of £40million for Matic this summer but the midfielder is pushing for the club to lower the price tag so he is able to secure a move away.

Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele is set to be on the sidelines for around "three to four weeks" after suffering a fresh hamstring injury during the Catalan's 4-2 victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday.
