Cristiano Ronaldo insists he will be staying at Real Madrid after being linked with a return to Manchester United. Last month, reports in Portugal claimed that the 32-year-old wanted to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after becoming ‘outraged’ at accusations of evading €14.7 million (£13m) in tax by Spanish prosecutors.
Manchester United were reportedly exploring the possibility of re-signing their former player, while Paris Saint-Germain also wanted to sign the Portugal international for a second successive summer.
But Madrid’s all-time record goalscorer claims he is now planning to stay in the Spanish capital.
‘Winning major trophies with my club last year was great, just like the individual trophies,’ Ronaldo told Marca.
‘Doing it again would be fine.
‘You have to work hard, year after year, I will continue to do it. Football is my life, it is my passion.’
