Manchester United Unveil Grey Third Kit for New Season

Manchester United have released a new grey third kit ahead of the upcoming 2017/18 Premier League season. The new Adidas shirt, to go alongside their red home strip and black away kit, was designed by a fan and the colour will bring back memories of United's infamous shirt from the 1995/96 season, which saw the side change at half-time during a 3-1 defeat at Southampton.

United were in unstoppable form heading into the fixture at The Dell in April 1996, but a three-goal half-time deficit saw Sir Alex Ferguson insist on a swap to their blue and white second away strip.

Regardless of that, designers Adidas say that the new kit represents: "The powerful bond between the team and its fans.

"The light grey shirt is designed with a graphic showing the silhouette of the famous 'Holy Trinity' statue outside of the club's Old Trafford stadium.

"The statue of club icons Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best and Denis Law represents a golden era in the club's history and it is this unique history that was the inspiration for the new third kit."

Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele is set to be on the sidelines for around "three to four weeks" after suffering a fresh hamstring injury during the Catalan's 4-2 victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday.
