Manchester United have confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Everton to sign Romelu Lukaku. United had a £75 million offer for the Belgium international accepted on Thursday and the move is now subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed.
A statement from United on Saturday morning read: ‘Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed a fee with Everton for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku. The transfer is subject to a medical and personal terms.
‘A further announcement will be made in due course.’
The 24-year-old is currently on holiday in Los Angeles and is set to link up with Jose Mourinho’s side on Sunday when the squad travel to the United States to begin their pre-season tour.
The signing of Lukaku represents a major coup for Mourinho as Chelsea had made the Belgian their priority transfer target for the summer.
The Premier League champions failed to agree a fee with Everton but reports on Friday evening claimed that they had matched United’s offer.
