Diego Costa Transfer Breakthrough as Deportivo La Coruna Show Interest

Chelsea may finally have been given a major boost in their hopes of offloading Diego Costa before the end of the summer transfer window thanks to interest from Deportivo La Coruna. The Blues have struggled all summer to sell the Spain international after Antonio Conte informed him he was no longer part of his first-team plans, with Atletico’s transfer ban complicating a deal.

AC Milan have also been linked with Costa on a number of occasions, but the player himself has long made it known that it is his preference to return to his former club.

It initially looked like Costa could rejoin Atletico and train with the team before being registered to play in the middle of the season when their transfer embargo came to an end.

However, Deportivo now look set to help smooth things along by taking the 28-year-old on loan until January, according to La Voz de Galicia.

Depor have been eyeing signings up front for much of this summer, having also shown an interest in re-signing Lucas Perez from Arsenal, though with a deal failing to materialise for the moment.

While Chelsea have been concerned about Costa’s fitness during his absence from training, Deportivo look ready to take him on and will give him the chance to get his match sharpness up in time for him to link up with Atletico later in the campaign.

Costa joined Chelsea from Madrid in 2014 but has never fully settled in London, leading to speculation over his future for much of his Stamford Bridge career, despite fine performances on the pitch.
