Tiemoue Bakayoko is ‘all good’ following his car crash on the way home from Chelsea training, says team-mate Michy Batshuayi. Bakayoko, who joined the Blues over the summer, came off the road five minutes from Chelsea’s training complex in Surrey. Images of his £150,000 Mercedes G63 AMG SUV in bushes and with a smashed windscreen have emerged.
A statement from Surrey Police confirmed the incident. It read: ‘Surrey Police attended Blundel Lane in Oxshot around 4.40pm following a one vehicle collision.
‘The driver did not suffer any injuries. There were delays for drivers while the vehicle awaited recovery.’
Batshuayi has since confirmed that Bakayoko is okay after the incident on Thursday.
In response to a question about the health of the summer signing, Batshuayi said his team-mate was ‘all good’.
The incident comes after recent comments from Bakayoko’s brother Namory that the Chelsea midfielder was struggling to get to grips with driving in England.
‘Tiemoue told me he wasn’t allowing himself to drive because he thinks it’s too crazy driving on the left! But he’ll get round to it,’ he said.
Bakayoko has made six appearances for Chelsea this season, including last night’s 5-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.
