The France forward Kylian Mbappé has won the Golden Boy award for the best young player in Europe, fending off competition from Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford. The French teenager had a breakthrough season at Monaco last term, scoring 26 goals in 44 appearances, before completing a loan move to the Parc des Princes ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
Mbappe has hit the ground running at PSG, scoring four goals and providing four assists in his opening 11 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants.
Mbappé won by an overwhelming 291 votes, with Dembélé coming second on 149. Manchester United’s Rashford was third and Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus fourth.
Italian outlet Tuttosport announced the winner on Monday morning and the France international won by a landslide with 291 votes. Barca’s summer signing Dembele came second after receiving 149 votes.
