Alan Pardew Returns to Management as West Brom Confirm Appointment

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the appointment of Alan Pardew as their new head coach. Pardew, 56, has signed a two-and-half year contract at the Hawthorns and comes into replace Tony Pulis, who was relieved of his duties earlier this month after a disastrous run of no wins in 10 Premier League matches.

Pardew returns to management after being sacked by Crystal Palace in December 2016 and becomes the Baggies sixth permanent manager since 2011.

"I'm thrilled with the opportunity Albion have provided and looking forward to getting to work with what I consider to be a talented group of players," Pardew said.

"The immediate challenge will be to get the results we need to pull ourselves up the table. But I'm aware that while I'm joining one of the great, traditional clubs of English football, it is one determined to go forward in the Premier League.

"It's an exciting opportunity to play a part in that ambition."

Chairman John Williams said: "Alan brings the experience of more than 300 Premier League games and the kind of dynamic leadership from which our Club can benefit," he said.

"We were impressed with what he had to say and what he has to offer and we are looking forward to an exciting new era under his charge."

John Carver, who previously worked with Pardew as his assistant at Newcastle United before an ill-fated spell as interim manager, has also joined the backroom staff.
