Barcelona Re-sign Gerard Deulofeu from Everton after Activating £10.6m Buy-back Clause

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Gerard Deulofeu from Everton after activating a €12m (£10.6m, $13.7m) buy-back clause inserted into his contract when he was sold to the Premier League side in the summer of 2015. The 23-year-old winger was once considered the jewel of the Barcelona academy, breaking records within the club's youth ranks before enjoying a remarkable campaign with the second team in 2012-2013 where he scored 18 goals in the second division of Spanish football. The talented winger also helped Spain to win two consecutive Under-19 European Championships in 2011 and 2012 but failed to fulfil huge expectation in successive loan spells at Everton and Sevilla. Barcelona thus decided to sell him to Everton, then managed by Roberto Martinez, in the summer of 2015. Deulofeu showed glimpses of his talent on Merseyside but in January, Ronald Koeman decided to send him on loan to AC Milan for the second part of the 2016-2017 campaign. The Spaniard managed t

Confusion as Footballer Signs for Two Clubs

There is confusion in the Irish Premiership after both Linfield and Crusaders claimed to have signed former York City defender Josh Robinson. The 24-year-old spent one year with York after joining them from Crusaders before both City and Robinson mutually agreed to his release. A York spokesperson has told Sky Sports News HQ: "I can confirm that Josh has been released from York City by mutual consent. We are not sure which club he has subsequently joined so, to be on the safe side, we'll take the 'don't know' option!" Linfield stated Robinson has signed a three-year deal with them while Crusaders announced Robinson had signed a four-year contract to return to Seaview, with all necessary documentation being sent to the Irish FA. It is understood the Irish FA is currently looking into this and seeking to clarify which club has the player's rights. Crusaders won their Europa League game 3-1 last night. Linfield need to get past La Fiorita i

Diego Costa Has Been Unfairly Treated by Antonio Conte - Chelsea Star Hints

Chelsea star Pedro believes Diego Costa could not have done more to prove his worth to Antonio Conte amid ongoing uncertainty about the striker’s future. The Brazil-born forward spearheaded Chelsea’s attack last season as they swept aside the competition to claim their second league title in three seasons. Conte, however, is ready to discard the 28-year-old ,who has scored 52 goals in 89 Premier League appearances, and is said to have sent the former Atletico Madrid star a text message informing Costa he is not in his plans for the coming season. Conte and Costa are believed to have fallen out in January when the Spain international was dropped amid reports of a training ground row and rumours linking the player with a move to China, but Pedro insists he believes the pair enjoy a solid working relationship. ‘I don’t know what type of relationship Diego has with the manager but I think it’s a good one,’ Pedro told Cadena Ser. ‘Diego has played in every competition, he

‘I Don’t Know if I will be in Arsenal Next Season', Says Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez has revealed that he has made a decision over his future but is refusing to confirm that he will stay at Arsenal. The 28-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract and is one of Manchester City’s priority targets for the summer transfer window. Pep Guardiola’s side are understood to be confident of securing a deal, despite Arsenal’s insistence that they will not be forced into a sale if the forward refuses to sign a new deal. Sanchez, however, has reportedly made City his first-choice destination and is keen on being reunited with Guardiola, who he worked under at Barcelona. When asked if he will be Claudio Bravo’s team-mate at City next season during a press conference with Chile’s national team, Sanchez replied: ‘Good question! Right now I’m focused on the Confederations Cup. ‘When this is finished I will see if I stay or go. I don’t know.’ Asked if his decision is clear in his mind, Sanchez replied: ‘Yes, it’s clear. But I can’t te

Zinedine Zidane's Son Enzo Joins Alaves on Three-year-deal

Real Madrid have sold Enzo Zidane to Alaves with Zinedine Zidane's son agreeing a three-year deal to continue his career at the Basque side. The clubs have not disclosed the details of the agreement but reports in Spain claim that the Champions League winners have inserted a buy-back option as part of the deal in order to have the control over the midfielder's future.  The 22-year-old playmaker was handed his first-team debut by his father in November 2016 during a 6-1 Copa del Rey victory over Cultural Leonesa. He grabbed that opportunity with both hands, scoring a goal before being replaced by Isco at half-time. However, his remarkable debut was not enough to convince his father to give more opportunities with the first-team during the remaining of the 2016-2017 campaign. Enzo, instead, continued his development with the Real Madrid second team, scoring five goals and providing five assists in 32 appearances in the Spanish Second Division B – the country's thir

Bournemouth Complete Nathan Ake Signing from Chelsea as Conte Continues His Summer Ruthlessness

The 22-year-old spent the first half of last season on-loan on the south coast before returning to his parent club, playing a bit-part role in Chelsea’s Premier League title success and run to the FA Cup final. Antonio Conte had been full of praise for the way in which the Netherlands international acclimatized to life back at Stamford Bridge but the versatile defender has now been deemed surplus to his requirements. ‘I had a great time here last season so I’m really happy to be back,’ said Ake, who is believed to have cost the Cherries around £20million. ‘It’s an exciting challenge. Chelsea is a great club and I learned so much there but this is a new step and the right place for me to develop even more. ‘The fans haven’t seen the best of me yet. I always set the bar high so I know there is a lot of things I still have to work on. ‘With the help of the manager here I know I can keep improving and become a better player. Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe added: ‘I a

Hero Claudio Bravo Saved Three Penalties to Put Chile in Confederations Cup Final

Claudio Bravo saved three penalties as Chile reached the Confederations Cup final after a 3-0 shootout win over Portugal on Wednesday. The Chile captain denied Ricardo Quaresma, Joao Moutinho and Nani to send his team into Sunday's final after the game in Kazan ended 0-0 after extra time. Chile, who scored all three of their spot-kicks taken by Arturo Vidal, Charles Aranguiz and Alexis Sanchez, will face the winner of Germany against Mexico. Nani missed the decisive penalty as Portugal did not call on Cristiano Ronaldo, who likely was scheduled to take the fifth. Chile created the better opportunities and were unfortunate not to win the game in extra-time when they struck the woodwork twice in quick succession through Vidal and Martin Rodriguez. Both teams made a bright start, with Chile going close after six minutes through Eduardo Vargas. He latched onto a pass from Sanchez but Rui Patricio smothered his effort. Portugal responded inside a minute when Ronaldo cre

Chelsea Legend John Terry Set for Aston Villa

The 36-year-old has had a number of offers this summer after becoming surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and looks to have chosen to make the step down to the Championship. While Terry could have continued in the Premier League after attracting interest from the likes of West Brom, Bournemouth and Swansea City, he does not want to play against Chelsea next season. Villa and Birmingham City have looked the main contenders to snap Terry up, but the veteran defender looks to have settled on making the move to Villa Park, according to the Daily Mirror. Terry recently played golf with Villa boss Steve Bruce and his son in Portugal, and fancies the challenge of helping the Midlands outfit back to the top flight. Although Villa only finished 13th in the Championship last season, they are expected to be among the contenders to go up next season. Terry would reportedly rather be involved in a promotion push than spending what could end up being his final season in th

Romelu Lukaku's Transfer to Chelsea Held Up over Kit Deal and Everton Demands

Chelsea‘s bid to re-sign Romelu Lukaku this summer is being held up for two reasons despite for some time looking like a transfer was imminent. The Blues have made the Everton striker their top target up front this summer, with Alvaro Morata preferring instead to move to rivals Manchester United. Still, Chelsea have not yet been able to announce a deal due to the upcoming change in kit sponsorship, which would require Lukaku to be unveiled in the Premier League champions’ new Nike strip. Chelsea are still technically with Adidas until July 1, but after that are expected to confirm a number of new arrivals, including Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alex Sandro. Lukaku could be next, though the Daily Express claim Everton are still hoping to squeeze more money out of the west Londoners. While Chelsea had hoped £70million would be enough to land the 24-year-old, the Toffees are supposedly expecting around £10m more for their star player. Lukaku scored 25 Premier League goals l

Cristiano Ronaldo Facing 14.7m Euros Tax Lawsuit from Spanish Prosecutor's Office

Spain's Prosecutor's Office in Madrid has filed a tax fraud lawsuit against Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo is alleged to have defrauded Spanish authorities of 14.7m euros between 2011 and 2014. In a statement, the prosecutor's office said Ronaldo had knowingly used a "business structure" created in 2010 to hide his income in Spain from his image rights. The lawsuit is based on a report sent to the prosecutor's office from Spain's tax agency AEAT, it said. Prosecutors accuse the Portugal international of evading tax via a shell company based in the British Virgin Islands and another in Ireland, known for its low corporate tax rate. In addition, they say he only declared 11.5million Euros of Spanish-related income from 2011 to 2014, while what he really earned during that time was close to 43m Euros. They also accuse him of "voluntarily" refusing to include 28.4m euros in income linked to the sale of his image rights

Roma Complete the Signing of Moreno from PSV

Serie A side Roma announced the signing of Mexican defender Hector Moreno from PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday. The 29-year-old centre-back, who has won 79 caps for Mexico, joins the capital club on a four-year contract that runs until 2021. "I am very happy to sign for Roma," Moreno said. "This represents an important step up in my career. "I hope I can show my individual qualities and contribute to the overall success of the team." Moreno, who made over 100 La Liga appearances for Espanyol, spent two seasons with PSV, helping Phillip Cocu's side win the Dutch league title in 2015-16, seven years after winning it with AZ Alkmaar in 2009. Roma sporting director Monchi said he had targeted the player for some time. "Moreno has been a target of mine for a long time, and fortunately now the circumstances are right for him to join us at Roma," said Monchi, who was hired several months ago following years of successful recruitment for S

Iran Qualify for 2018 World Cup Finals

Iran became the second team to qualify for next year's World Cup finals as they beat Uzbekistan 2-0 with goals from Sardar Azmoun and Mehdi Taremi at the Azadi Stadium on Monday. Azmoun's goal midway through the first half set Iran on track to qualify for the 2018 event in Russia before Taremi added a second two minutes from time as Iran reached back-to-back World Cup tournaments for the first time. The three-time Asian champions, who also missed a penalty just after the break, join Brazil as the qualified nations so far after Iran secured a fifth World Cup appearance. The win means Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz's Iran team will finish in the top two places in Group A of Asia's final round of qualifying. Uzbekistan are eight points adrift of the leaders in third place and have only two games remaining. The top two teams in each of Asia's two qualifying groups advance automatically to the finals while the teams in third place go through a series of p

Nike Has Made Boots for Cristiano Ronaldo that only Him Can Wear

Cristiano Ronaldo has a new pair of football boots but because they were ‘created specifically for the world’s best player’, you can’t have them. Nike have created the CR7 Mercurial Campeoes to mark what has been a tremendous year for Ronaldo even by his own very high standards.  Over the last 12 months the Portugal star won his first international title by triumphing at Euro 2016 and was part of a Real Madrid side that became the first team to retain the European Cup in the Champions League era. Plus he won La Liga, secured another Ballon d’Or and scored a crazy amount of goals. The new boots are red with a dash of green, in recognition of the success with Portugal. The rest is all gold because that is the colour of a champion. Ronaldo will don the blingy special edition footwear at this summer’s Confederations Cup in Russia. Credit: Metro

Chelsea are not Willing to Give Me Chance to Fight for My Place, I Have to Leave - Diego Costa Declares

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has informed the Spain international he is no longer wanted at Stamford Bridge, but ahead of the World Cup next summer Costa is keen to ensure he is playing first team football. The 28-year-old netted 22 goals last season as the Blues stormed to the title with two games to spare, while they also reached the FA Cup but lost to Arsenal at Wembley. Costa fell out with Conte mid-way through the campaign amid speculation he was subject to interest from the Chinese Super League. Following the climax to the campaign, Conte messaged Costa to tell him his days at Chelsea are over. The forward scored the winning goal as Spain beat Macedonia in their latest World Cup qualifier and afterwards confirmed he would indeed leave England and could return to Spain with Atletico. "I do not know," Costa told AS after the 2-1 win. "I have a contract with Chelsea, they have to know what to do with me and I have to wait and know the decision that my

Sergio Ramos Supports Jose Mourinho's Self Credit of Being Behind Real Madrid Recent Success

Sergio Ramos has responded after Jose Mourinho suggested he was behind Real Madrid‘s recent success in the Champions League. Los Blancos won the competition for the third time in four years with a 4-1 victory over Juventus in Cardiff to cap off Zinedine Zidane’s first full campaign as manager at the Bernabeu. Mourinho, who steered Manchester United to the Europa League title this term, never lifted the Champions League at Madrid but emphasised how he turned the side’s fortune around after a difficult period. He told Portuguese outlet Expresso: ‘I’m really bad at picking teams. Inter Milan were in big trouble. Real Madrid were in big trouble. Manchester United in big trouble. What does big trouble mean? It means that they are teams that want to win but are thousands of miles away from winning.’ ‘The captain of Real Madrid [Sergio Ramos], who lifted the trophy just the other day and who is now a three-time European champion, had never played in a Champions League quart

Cameroon Coach Faints During a Match

Cameroon football head coach Richard Towa was taken to a Baku hospital after fainting on Thursday during the match against Morocco in the Islamic Solidarity Games, said team doctor Tamo Moktamo. The Indomitable Lions coach was seen celebrating Frantz Pangop Tchidjui's 31st-minute goal before fainting and "being taken into the stadium's infirmary where he had to be reanimated and was then taken to the hospital in Baku", explained Dr Moktamo. "He was admitted around 6:00 PM local time and was treated at the cardiology department. He's stabilised now and is doing fairly well," he added. The fainting was "most likely" due to a "hypertensive crisis" which caused an violent headache as well as brain disruptions. "It's difficult to say, at this moment, what happened exactly but the coach had an MRI scan, an electrocardiogram, an X-ray of his heart after he got worse in the stadium's infirmary, he had to be reanima

NPFL Recap on Match-day 24- Plateau United Maintain Lead at the Top

Let us take a review of Nigerian Professional Football League for matchday- 24 as Plateau United maintained their five-point lead at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table, while there were no changes in the bottom four at the end of match-day 24 games on Sunday. Enugu Rangers 1-0 Akwa United Bright Silas' 11th-minute goal ensured Enugu Rangers secured maximum points against Akwa United, earning a first league win in four outings. Impressively, Rangers kept a clean-sheet for the first time in six games in a match which failed to produce too much goalmouth action. Plateau United 5-1 Gombe United  League leaders Plateau United secured a comprehensive home win against Gombe United, thanks partly to Peter Eneji's brace from the spot. The referee awarded penalties to either team in the opening eight minutes, converted by Eneji in the 6th minute and Mannir Ubale of Gombe United. Further goals from Elisha Golbe, Eneji, Kabiru Umar and Emeka Umeh conde

Eagles Front-line Lacked Quality - South African Coach Blasts

Fresh off his stunning victory in Uyo, South African coach Stuart Baxter has taken the gloves off and pummelled the quality of the Nigeria front-line deployed by Rohr in Saturday's game. Speaking to South African media on Sunday, Baxter noted that with more clinical finishing in front of the goal, the score-line would have been different and may have even favoured the Super Eagles after 90 minutes. The coach shared, "We are still relishing that result and it is good that we win. I am so happy because I just joined the team back and it is good we start well for the Afcon qualifiers. “I will still say kudos to the Nigerians because they stretched us and made some dangerous movements. But if I may sound very respectful and modest, their attack was not the very best they could have presented. “They were without quality front-line, otherwise, they could have scored in the early exchanges but like I said earlier, it is good that my players responded very well in the m

Chelsea Legend Didier Drogba Scores and Assists on His Winning Debut for Phoenix Rising FC

Didier Drogba enjoyed a dream debut for United Soccer League side Phoenix Rising FC the club he is also a part owner of scoring and assisting as they beat Vancouver Whitecaps. Drogba, making his first appearance for Phoenix since his arrival in April, netted the opener and set up the winner in the side's 2-1 USL win over Vancouver on Saturday. Wearing the No. 11 shirt and the captain's armband, the former Chelsea striker headed home Amadou Dia's cross in the 40th minute. Then, following Marcos Bustos' equaliser from the penalty spot for Vancouver, the ex-Ivory Coast international teed up former Chelsea teammate Shaun Wright-Phillips for the game's decider in the 77th minute. "Nothing different," Drogba said when asked about his debut compared to others. "The game is still the beautiful game and I want to enjoy it, and I was enjoying today, and that's the most important thing for me." The 39-year-old, who was last playing fo

Super Eagles Manager Gernot Rohr Points to Inexperience

Nigeria Super Eagles were defeated at home by South Africa in their opening match of 2019 African Nations Cup qualifier on Saturday and coach Gernot Rohr has blamed his team defeat to inexperience. Goals from Tokelo Rantie and Percy Tau condemned the Super Eagles to a first ever competitive loss to Bafana Bafana in 25 years, and Rohr pointed to the relative youth of his squad. "My young team played a very good first half, but didn't score. We knew that in the second half, the experienced team of SA would be dangerous on counters, and that's what happened," Rohr offered. The German also suggested that his players lost steam in the second half after expending energy in the first. "We had difficulties to finish the match. My players did not cope physically in the second half because of the efforts they put in the first half. "I believe that with this kind of game the young team will make progress. They will not repeat this same mistake. &

Manchester United Must Cough Out €100m if They Want Andrea Belotti - Torino President

Manchester United have been told they must pay £88million if they want to sign Andrea Belotti this summer. The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move for the Torino striker. The 23-year-old enjoyed an exception season last term, scoring 26 goals in 35 Serie A appearances. Reports suggest Jose Mourinho sees the Italy international, who scored on Sunday night in Italy’s 5-0 win over Liechtenstein, as an ideal partner for fellow target Alvaro Morata. But Manchester United will have to stump up more than the £70m they want to pay for the striker. Torino president Urbano Cairo claims Belotti wants to remain at his current club and that the only way he could leave is if his release clause is triggered. ‘I care about Belotti and I’m keeping hold of him,’ Cairo told Italian broadcaster Radio 24. ‘He has a contract with Torino until 2021. I would only sell him for €100m [£88m], but even then he can refuse. ‘The most important thing is what he wants, regardless o

As Romelu Lukaku Set for a Big-money Return to Chelsea, Is the Powerful Striker Ready to be Chelsea's Main Man?

With Romelu Lukaku set for a big-money return to Chelsea, we look at whether the Everton striker is ready to lead the line for the Premier League champions. Romelu Lukaku has never been short of confidence in his own ability. But then, what would you expect from a player who has been scoring goals freely at the top level since he was 16 years old? The Belgian won the golden boot in his home country in his first full season as a pro, finding the net 15 times as Anderlecht won the title in 2009/10 and scoring four times in Champions League qualifying. While most players his age were still making their way in youth football, Lukaku had 33 goals in just 73 league appearances for Anderlecht when Chelsea paid £10m to sign him in August 2011. After a season in the Blues' reserves, Lukaku showed off his goal-scoring ability in the Premier League, hitting the net 17 times during a loan spell with West Bromwich Albion before improving his strike rate at Everton, where he score

Inter Milan Ask Manchester Utd to Pay £44m if They Want Ivan Perisic

Inter Milan want £44m for Manchester United target Ivan Perisic. United are keen to bring the Croatia international to Old Trafford this summer and it is understand Inter Milan have turned down an improved offer from United. United are looking to bolster their forward line having allowed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury, to leave the club following the expiration of his contract. Sky sources revealed in May that United were in talks with Inter about the potential signing of Perisic and signalled their intent with an opening offer of £36m. The Serie A club rejected that offer and Sky in Italy understands new manager Luciano Spalletti would be keen to keep Perisic at the San Siro if their £44m valuation is not met. Perisic joined Inter from Wolfsburg in 2015 and has enjoyed a fine season in Serie A, contributing 10 goals and six assists. He has three years remaining on his current contract at Inter. United manager Jos

Arsenal Announce Release of Yaya Sanogo and Three Other Players Following End of Contracts

Arsenal have released four players on a free transfer following the conclusion of their deals at the club, which include Yaya Sanogo, Stefan O'Connor, Kristopher da Graca and Kostas Pileas. None of the players were deemed an important part of the Gunners' campaign and will now be able to search for a different club where they can play on a regular basis. Sanogo made 20 competitive appearances for the club, which included a brilliant cameo in the 2013/14 FA Cup final where his contribution led to Aaron Ramsey's winner in extra time. He has been in and out of the squad at Arsenal, while going out on multiple loan spells following his arrival from Auxerre in 2013. Crystal Palace was Sanogo's first loan club for the final six months during the 2014/15 season. He was then loaned out to Ajax at the start of the following season, but returned midway after failing to impress, and secured a loan to Charlton Athleticfor the remainder of the campaign where he suffered a

Chelsea Beat Manchester United to £35m Tiemoue Bakayoko Deal

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko after agreeing a €40 million (£35m) deal with Monaco, according to reports in France. L’Equipe claim that Chelsea’s board have convinced the Ligue 1 champions with their offer and are hopeful that their first summer transfer can be officially announced next week. The report also claims that Bakayoko is enthusiastic about the prospect of working under Antonio Conte and the midfielder is determined on joining the Premier League champions. Monaco, meanwhile, have quickly found a replacement for Bakayoko in Soualiho Meite. The 23-year-old midfielder will be arriving from Belgian side Zulte Waregem for a fee in the region of €8m (£7m). Chelsea have been in negotiations with Monaco over the last month but they have faced competition from Manchester United as Jose Mourinho is also keen to strengthen his options in central midfield. But with Bakayoko now set to join Chelsea, United will be expected to push on in their

Victor Anichebe Released by Sunderland

Nigerian striker, Victor Anichebe has been released by English Championship club, Sunderland AFC. The 29-year-old is one of 11 players released by the club on Friday. Sunderland AFC got relegated from the English Premier League at the end of last season and have now let go a host of top players that also includes South African midfielder, Steven Piennar. Anichebe made 18 Premier League appearances for Sunderland last season, scoring three goals for the Black Cats in their ultimately futile bid to remain in the English top flight. Speculations had been rife that Anichebe would leave the club in the eventual case of relegation but he stated when quizzed on the subject two months ago that he was remaining focused on staying fit. “I love it here (at Sunderland),” he told the Newcastle Chronicle. “Before I got injured I felt great, performances were good, someone was saying that outside (of Chelsea’s Eden) Hazard I was one of the highest ranked attackers in the league, so

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Released by Manchester United as Alvaro Morata Deal Draws Closer

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave Manchester United when his contract expires on 30 June after being named as the only name on the club's released list revealed by the Premier League on Friday, 9th of July. The Swedish striker signed an initial one-year contract upon his high-profile arrival at Old Trafford in July 2016, with that deal including the option of another 12-month extension. The 35-year-old is being tipped to continue his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury at Old Trafford, though there are no guarantees he will be offered a new contract. United are in the market for a new striker this summer after being overly reliant on the Swede in 2016/17, as he finished as their top scorer with 28 goals in all competitions. An impressive haul of 28 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions during his maiden campaign at Old Trafford boded well in terms of the two sides reaching an agreement, only for any best-laid plans to be torpedoed by a serious cruciate knee li

Craig Shakespeare Agrees Three-year Deal with Leicester

Shakespeare took interim charge following Claudio Ranieri's departure in February and was later appointed full-time boss until the end of the season. Ranieri's former assistant, who also worked under the Italian's predecessor Nigel Pearson, steered the champions to a comfortable mid-table finish and ended the campaign with a record of eight wins from 16 games. His new deal is expected to be confirmed by the club within the next 24 hours. The 53-year-old won eight, drew three and lost five of his 16 matches in charge of the English outfit, and according to Sky Sports News, he has signed a three-year contract after successful talks earlier this week. The same report claims that Leicester will announce the news 'over the next 24 hours' as they look ahead to the new campaign. Leicester, who reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in their debut appearance in the competition, ultimately ended the 2016-17 Premier League season in 12th position -

Baba Rahman Could Remain at Chelsea as Schalke Hesitate on Renewing His Loan Deal

Rahman, 22, was given permission to leave Stamford Bridge on loan last summer after Blues boss Antonio Conte judged the full-back to be "too attacking", according to the player himself. Abdul "Baba" Rahman's proposed switch from Chelsea to Schalke hangs in the balance, with the full-back's "complex" knee injury throwing the move into jeopardy. The Ghana international suffered a serious knee injury during January's Africa Cup of Nations which ruled him out for the remainder of the 2016-17 season. Despite that, Schalke had seemingly seen enough from the defender, and suggested in May they would bring him back for another spell at the club. Rival left-back Sead Kolasinac recently left the Bundesliga side to join Arsenal. But Bild suggest Schalke are now having second thoughts having discovered the injury is more complicated than first feared and could keep him out until October. The club's sporting director, Christian Heidel

Real Madrid Rejected Arsenal's Huge Bid for James Rodriguez

Arsenal have had a bid for Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez rejected by the Spanish and European champions. Though the exact amount offered by the Gunners for the Chelsea and Manchester United target is unknown, it does fall short of Real's £69.8m ($90.3m) valuation. The Colombia international's days at the Bernabeu appear to be numbered after he was left out of the squad for the Champions League final against Juventus. The 25-year-old made just 13 starts in the Spanish top-flight last season and has fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Isco and Marco Asensio. Spanish television programme El Chiringuito (according to The Express) claim Arsenal have submitted an official bid for James, which has been dismissed by Zinedine Zidane's side. The offer is said to fall just short of his valuation and could mean the north Londoners return with a follow-up offer. Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, says just three new players will arrive during the summ

Lionel Messi on the Verge of Signing New Barcelona Contract with €400 Million Release Clause

Lionel Messi is set to end speculation surrounding his future by penning a new deal with Barcelona that will include an astonishing €400 million release clause, according to reports in Spain. The 29-year-old had was said to have rejected and opening offer of a £29million a season deal, but Catalan based outlet TV3 now claim that the prolific forward will earn €30 million after tax a year. Messi’s current deal expires next summer but is now expected to sign a three-year extension with an option of an extra 12 months after president Josep Bartomeu personally intervened to hold negotiations with the player and his farther Jorge. According to Spanish radio show El Larguero, the new deal won’t be signed or formally announced until after 30 June for accounting reasons. Despite Barcelona’s failure to retain the Spanish league title and a disappointing Champions League quarter final exit, Messi still enjoyed a prolific season, scoring 54 goals in 52 matches across all competitions. Luis Enri

"He is the Special One because He Wins," - Pogba Praises Morinho

Paul Pogba believes Jose Mourinho's ability to do "extreme things" is what makes him 'The Special One'. The Manchester United manager made Pogba the most expensive player in the world last summer when he paid Juventus £89m for the French midfielder's services. His first season back at Old Trafford saw United finish sixth but qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League. They also won the EFL Cup, and Pogba paid tribute to the methods of the manager. "He is the Special One because he wins," he told Sky in Germany. "Sometimes he does some extreme things. Against Chelsea, he changed our tactical formation just before the game. "We had never trained it before but it worked out well. That was special. He won three trophies in his first year, that's special as well. He deserves his name. "He's a manager who is really close with the players. Personally, he welcomed me, we had a talk and I had a good
